Jumbo Mixed Reality app

Thanks to the mixed-reality application that has been developed, visitors to the exhibition will be able to view the newly built ship in virtual cross-sections that can be controlled by a hand gesture or using voice control.

About Jumbo

Jumbo is a heavy lift-shipping and offshore transport and installation contractor. Jumbo has been developing groundbreaking solutions for maritime transport for over 50 years.

Since 2003, Jumbo is building on its heavy lift capacity and has quickly built up a good track record in the offshore subsea-installation market. In order to maintain this, Jumbo has invested - and continues to invest - in the latest technical methods, software-equipment it has also developed its own safety awareness
programme: “Stay Well”.

Deployment of microsoft hololens and mixed reality

Jumbo will incorporate the Microsoft HoloLens in it’s business processes and wants to give the customer insight into what working with a Microsoft HoloLens means. Ralph Jansen, application manager at Jumbo, says: “Now that we are close to making the HoloLens operational on our ships, we also wanted to use an app as a sales tool during the offshore energy exhibition. This allows us to show our customers what we are working on in this area.”

Virtual Cross Sections

Through the project that Recreate has carried out for one of the top 6 players in the Dutch construction industry, Jumbo came into contact with Recreate. “Recreate has developed an app in a very professional manner and in a short period of time that fully meets the wishes of Jumbo,” says Ralph. Thanks to the mixed-reality
application that has been developed, visitors to the exhibition will be able to view the newly built ship in virtual cross-sections that can be controlled by a hand gesture or using voice control.

Higher number of visitors due to virtual presentation of the new ship.

Jumbo’s participation in the offshore exhibition was even more successful than in previous years. By presenting the newly built ship in Mixed Reality, more visitors were interested in the ship.
