The challenge

For every project, Dusseldorp collaborates with customers and stakeholders to co-create the design. The design team has a comprehensive understanding of every aspect of a project, but conveying those ideas to the key stakeholders proves difficult.

To do so, Dusseldorp uses drawings, 3D images, renders and videos. Yet customers keep expressing the wish to see the design in their own environment. To make that possible, Dusseldorp approached Recreate.

3D designs combined with highres 360° imagery from Cyclomedia

In close collaboration with Dusseldorp, Recreate built an automatic pipeline that converts Dusseldorp’s design into a usable 3D file. We then created an integration with Cyclomedia (the Dutch company that captured 360° imagery of almost all of the Netherlands) to bring the design and the cyclorama imagery together.

Dusseldorp’s design is shown as an overlay on the 360° image of the real world, so that customers, stakeholders and residents truly understand the impact of the design. This new world can be viewed on multiple devices: laptop and desktop, Cardboard VR on a smartphone and in a fully immersive multiplayer VR environment.
