VR TRAINING

Maintenance of the Rotary Atomizer F100: fully trained in VR, without travel costs.

GEA trains technicians for the maintenance of complex process equipment in virtual reality. This sharply reduces travel and training costs, while technicians worldwide receive the same high-quality training.

About GEA

GEA is a global engineering company, established in 1881 and active in more than 60 countries. It provides process solutions for the food, beverage and pharmaceutical industries, among others, and maintains more than 2,000 machines worldwide. GEA is strongly committed to digital transformation and innovation.

The challenge

With an average training cost of €5,000 per technician and a geographically dispersed workforce, the cost of in-person training added up quickly: travel, accommodation and coordination. Long travel times also extended schedules and increased overall costs.

Complete VR training for the Rotary Atomizer F100

Recreate developed a comprehensive VR training covering the entire process around the Rotary Atomizer F100: maintenance, disassembly, assembly and familiarisation with the machine. The immersive training guides the technician step by step, with built-in verification of the skills learned.

It is built on a highly accurate CAD model that serves as a quality benchmark. Together with a clear evaluation strategy, this makes the training result measurable. The first training with two technicians was completed successfully and generated interest across several departments for wider use.
